Our story
Our vision and mission are rooted in lived experience and shaped by the realities of today’s UK arts industry.
Growing up in inner-city London, our Founding Director and Artist Sharyh Murray, often turned to creativity as a form of self-expression at a very early age. She would often join summer art programmes run by local charities and community centres, meeting like-minded people and developing her creative voice. But as she grew up, things changed. There were funding cuts to local initiatives, growing lack of diverse representation in the arts industry, plus community centres were closing down across the UK. This meant a lot of people from similar backgrounds could no longer access creative initiatives (and their positive impact) in the same way.
Determined to tackle this issue, our mission is simple: to create those opportunities, while bridging social and cultural gaps through art. Alpha Artistry World CIC aims to create inclusive opportunities for people to connect, express themselves, and thrive.
Shaping the future of art as a CIC
Statistics show that Black and ethnic minority communities remain underrepresented in the UK’s arts and creative industries. By reinvesting our profits into free and low-cost programmes we actively work to challenge the systemic barriers that have historically excluded underrepresented groups from the arts sector; whether due to race, class, or access.
